Questions about the report

What people ask once they've read one.

Is the report accepted by banks and lawyers?

Yes. It's written to NZS 4306:2005, which is the standard they expect. If your lender has a specific requirement, tell us before the inspection.

How long is the report?

Usually 30 to 50 pages, most of it photos. The summary page at the front is the bit to read first.

Will it tell me whether to buy the house?

No inspector can make that call for you, but the grading and the phone call get you close. Your inspector will tell you which findings should change your offer and which are normal for a house of that age.

Can I share it with the vendor or my builder?

Yes. Buyers often use it to negotiate or to get repair quotes before going unconditional.

Is the sample the current format?

We're updating our report template, so the layout will change a little. The sections, the grading and the photos stay the same.
